After three full decades, and counting, our team at GLC can still say that our business is proudly private and family owned.
It’s more than a good story, it’s good news for our partners, clients, and staff. Our leadership team answers to situations that affect those we serve. They respond to trusted individuals with applicable expertise and experience. They pivot around needs and circumstances in real-time to find sensible solutions. They do not, however, answer to a boardroom full of strangers pushing for short-term gains at any cost.
GLC’s steady, hands-on model focuses on consistency and waste reduction. To us, remaining private is synonymous with putting people first for the long term. On the first day we wrote our business’s mission statement we were GLC Business Services. Today, we’re even more proud to hold that same name.
Relationship Focus
Every business says “the customer comes first,” but not every business actually means it. Publicly traded companies often have to choose between what’s best for their clients and what’s best for their stock price.
As a family-owned business, our priorities are more straight-forward. We do right by our people, and we do right by our clients. We’ve built our reputation slowly and carefully. We’re certainly not trading long-term relationships for short-term wins.
Leadership Roles
One of the perks of being private and family-run is that decisions don’t have to be run up a corporate flagpole. Outside of our headquarter base in Rochester, NY we are able to give a high level of trust to our regional directors around the country. This allows our managers to make informed decisions without red-tape.
Our leadership team isn’t buried under bureaucracy. They are engaged with teams, and attuned to client needs. Urgent questions get answered. Requests get personal responses. If there’s a challenge, we respond swiftly with knowledge and expertise.
The “Consider It Done” Approach
The term “company culture” gets thrown around a lot, but at GLC, it’s not a slogan on the wall or a slide in an HR presentation. It’s something we live by. It comes straight from the family values that built this business.
Accountability, hard work, treating people like people; these are not things we pitch in a corporate packet. These are fundamentals of our commitment to excellence. Our clients feel it in how our teams show up, day in and day out. Whether we’re staffing your front desk or streamlining your mailroom, we approach every detail with care because that’s who we are. It affects how we hire, how we assemble teams, and even which services we offer.
When we audit a business for compliance and optimal services, we are careful to suggest the most lean and efficient ways to improve their unique circumstances. The “Consider It Done” mentality includes sustainability on all fronts, and that includes the long-term benefit to our partners.
No Share-Holders
As John Falco, our own CFO, states “GLC’s clients are never subject to shareholder returns.” This distinct difference affects our ability to offer fair prices for distinct services.
One of the benefits to keeping our business private is that we are able to present a single, monthly bill for services. The cost of that service has never included fees for those with a public stake in GLC’s success. We aren’t passing on funds or paying salaries at a parent company. With our private system, what you see is what you get. Nothing is inflated to pay for hidden people or hidden items. Our cost of doing business is as close to home as the desk down the hall.
We don’t lure customers with a plan to “flip” the business. We’re not looking to grow at any cost. We aim first to earn trust and then to keep it.
When you partner with GLC, you're not just another name on a spreadsheet. You're a valued relationship, and we intend to honor that with transparency, reliability, and without the drama.
Continuity
In any service-focused business, continuity is key. As our own John Brokaw puts it, “That is why we have developed a responsive, well-coordinated coverage program designed to keep client operations running smoothly, no matter the season.”
That commitment to seamless support is built into our structure. As a family business, we’ve designed systems that are built to last. Our clients don’t get tossed between divisions or lost in transitions. They get steady support, even when life throws curveballs.
Being private lets us be personal. Being family-owned lets us be flexible. Both allow us to stay fiercely committed to what really matters: making sure your operations run smoothly, your team is supported, and your experience with us is positive, productive, and pleasantly uneventful.
So, we’re not here for explosive growth or market domination. We’re here for you; for your business, your people, and the goals you need to hit this quarter, next year, and five years down the line.
Whenever the need arises, and whatever the service, our commitment is to be there. Client-focused, and consistently GLC, because no one understands support quite like a family with a united goal.
Consider It Done.
